Tree and LexisNexis South Africa
Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE) promotes sustainable, holistic early childhood development (ECD) for children – from birth to age seven – primarily through quality training for their carers in marginalised communities throughout South Africa.
LexisNexis South Africa’s partnership with TREE has encompassed since 2003, staff volunteering, fundraising and financial contributions for ECD centres. In 2008, colleagues helped improve child crèche facilities in nine learning centres.
TREE has played a major role in creating an awareness of ECD among disadvantaged communities and lobbied for greater resources for ECD from the state and private sector. TREE improves the educational potential of approximately 80,000 young children annually, many of whom come from the most remote and impoverished areas.
