Reed Elsevier calls for an ambitious, robust and equitable global deal on climate change.
Reed Elsevier has joined over 500 other companies from all around the world in signing The Copenhagen Communiqué and setting out a progressive statement from the international business community ahead of the United Nations Climate Change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
The Communiqué states that an ambitious, robust, and equitable deal is needed in Copenhagen and that this will provide clarity and certainty about the future direction of climate change policy, making it easier for business to plan long-term investment and create opportunities for growth in the technologies of the future. Reed Elsevier recognised the urgency for action and the human induced climate change crisis that is facing the world today.
At Reed Elsevier, we are committed to reducing our own impacts as set out in our Climate Change Statement, and through the information we provide including unbiased, peer reviewed articles on climate change which help inform the debate and aid decision makers. We also believe it is important to engage with governments and non-governmental organisations on the issues, which is why we signed the Copenhagen Communiqué and continue to work with other European companies on a progressive global deal through Respect Table and the Road To Copenhagen.
You can read more about how we are doing against our reduction targets and our involvement with others in our annual CR Report here.
The Copenhagen Communiqué is an initiative of The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders' Group on Climate Change which is run by The University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership. To download the text of the communiqué, click here.
