PSI again breaks all records
Promotional products are the third force in the advertising market
The promotional products industry continues on its upward course and has become the third force in the advertising market. This also became evident at this year’s PSI Fair which saw a record number of visitors. With a total of 19,376 trade visitors, an increase of 4.4%, the organisers, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH, recorded a new “all-time high“ in the history of Europe’s biggest trade fair for advertising specialities.
“The boom in the promotional products market is picking up even more speed“, says Sabine Geldermann, PSI Director.
Sound optimism is the prevailing mood in the market, as the results of the economic situation survey showed: 60 percent of promotional product dealers expect a clear upswing. Accordingly, business was lively at PSI, where exhibitors registered a significantly higher willingness to place orders and expected good follow-up business. The increase in demand, from Germany and abroad, is responsible for this growth. Almost two thirds of all visitors to PSI come from overseas. This also emphasises PSI’s top position in Europe, both as a trade fair, and as an international institution for the promotional products industry.
The 875 exhibitors displayed an array of innovations and presented more than 12,000 new products. Among these are a growing number of promotional products which have a low impact on the environment and are made of natural resources. Sustainability is also a key requirement.
The bestselling products this year were textiles, bags and luggage, stationery and leather goods, watches and jewellery as well as electronic products, which are increasingly produced to customers’ individual specifications.
PSI 2009 will be larger, more international and even more dynamic. The fair will move to larger halls in the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, to meet demand for increased space.
